In case you want to cancel or deactivate your Du SIM Card, there are three different methods available for it.

1. Deactivate Du SIM Card Online
2. Deactivate Du SIM Card by Phone Call
3. Deactivate Du SIM Card by Visiting a Du Store

You can use any of the three methods given above for closing/deactivating your Du SIM Card in UAE. Let me explain each method for Du SIM Card Deactivation in detail.

#1. Deactivate Du SIM Card Online

In order to deactivate Du SIM Card Online, you must have a Du Account at Du website. If you do not have an account then you should first create a Du Account and then use this online method to cancel your Du SIM.

Here I provide the steps for Online Du SIM Deactivation as under.

1. Open a web browser and go to Du official website @www.du.ae.
2. Click on Login button appearing at upper right corner.
3. Enter your Username or Email and Password or choose to login with OTP on your Du Number.
4. After login, select My Account and click on Mobile tab.
5. Now click on SIM Card Settings to go to relevant page.
6. Find out Deactivate option and click on it.
7. Provide your Emirates ID Number, Reason for Deactivation and follow on-screen instructions to proceed ahead.
8. Settle pending payments or bills, if any.
9. Your Du SIM Card will be deactivated shortly.

The Du Prepaid SIM Card will be deactivated immediately, while the Du Postpaid SIM Card will stay active till upcoming billing cycle. Then it will be deactivated automatically.

In case you do not have a Du Account and your Du SIM is lost then this method is not for you. I recommend you to visit your nearest Du Store/Shop with your original Emirates ID to request for your Du SIM Deactivation.

#2. Deactivate Du SIM Card by Phone Call

The Du Prepaid Customers can deactivate their Du SIM Card by phone call. The Du SIM Card Deactivation Number is 155 for all prepaid customers.

Here I provide the step-by-step procedure for you.

1. Call on 155 from your Du Prepaid Number. If your Du SIM Card is lost, call on 155 from your friend’s Du Prepaid Number.
2. Choose your preferred language and select the option to talk to Du Customer Care Representative.
3. Provide your Du Prepaid Mobile Number and request for deactivation.
4. Provide your Emirates ID Number for identity verification.
5. On completion of verification, the representative will register your request.
6. Your Du Prepaid SIM Card will be deactivated soon.

You can deactivate your Du SIM Card via phone call by following the above mentioned steps. But this method is available exclusively for Du prepaid customers, the Du postpaid customers cannot deactivate their Du SIM by calling on 155.

#3. Deactivate Du SIM Card by Visiting a Du Store

There are 33 Du Stores and 3000+ Authorized Du Retailers (Shops) in various Emirates of the UAE. You can visit your nearest Du Store/Shop to request for Du Sim Card Deactivation before you leave the country.

Both the Du prepaid and Du postpaid customers can go to a Du Store or Authorized Du Retailer Shop to deactivate their Du SIM Card. Here I provide the step-by-step procedure as follows.

1. Click to Find a Du Store/Shop Near You.
2. Visit your nearest Du Store/Shop, keep your original Emirates ID with you.
3. Talk to the Du executive about your Du SIM Deactivation.
4. Provide your Du Number and your Emirates ID for verification.
5. Also provide a valid reason for your request to deactivate Du SIM Card.
6. The Du executive will register your request.
7. Pay the pending payments/bills and deactivation charges, if applicable.
8. Your Du SIM Card will be deactivated soon.

So, this is how you can deactivate your Du SIM Card when you do not want to use it anymore. You can use any of the three methods I shared above.

Du Prepaid and Postpaid SIM Card Deactivation Process

Both the Du prepaid and Du postpaid customers can request for deactivation if they do not want to continue using their Du SIM. But the Du SIM Card deactivation process is different for prepaid and postpaid customers.

01. Cancellation Charge

• There is No Charge for Cancellation/Deactivation of Du Prepaid SIM Card by Customer’s Request.
• There is a Charge of One Month Bill for Cancellation/Deactivation of Du Postpaid SIM Card on 12-Month Contract. For example: If you have a Du Postpaid SIM with AED 250 per month on 12-month contract, you need to pay AED 250 extra for cancelling the contract before completion of 12 months.
• There is No Charge for Cancellation/Deactivation of Du Postpaid SIM Card using without any Contract.

02. Deactivation Period

• The Du Prepaid SIM Card is deactivated immediately after request is submitted by the customer and accepted by Du company.
• The Du Postpaid SIM Card is deactivated on the date when its billing cycle ends. The customer can use the SIM till the billing date.

03. Balance Refund

• The Du Prepaid Customers will receive the refund if they have any remaining balance at the time of deactivation. The refund will be credited to the original payment method used during recharge.
• The Du Postpaid Customers do not have any balance, so they are not eligible for any refund after Du SIM Card deactivation. The Du Postpaid Customers have to pay pending/outstanding bill and cancellation charge to process their request for Du SIM deactivation.

In this way, the Du SIM Card Deactivation Process is completely different for prepaid and postpaid customers.

What Should you Do After Du SIM is Deactivated?

You should handover your deactivated SIM Card to a Du executive at a Du Store near your place. The Du Store will put that SIM in the recycle process. You should double-check the Du SIM if it is deactivated before you drop the SIM at a Du Store/Shop.

How to Block Du SIM Card When Lost in Abroad

In case you have lost your Du SIM Card in abroad (outside UAE), you must call the Du Helpline to block your Du SIM immediately. If you do not take an immediate action, fraudsters can misuse your Du SIM and it can put you in financial and/or legal trouble.
