When an expat wants to leave UAE permanently, s/he must apply for visa cancellation to the respective authority. After applying, the expat can check visa cancellation status online at GDRFA website (Dubai) or ICP portal (Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and other Emirates).

How to Check Visa Cancellation Status

There are four different ways to check Visa Cancellation Status in UAE. You can check your UAE visa status online or offline. You can see the list of these methods below.

1. Check Visa Cancellation Status at GDRFA Website

If you applied for visa cancellation in Dubai, you can check your visa cancellation status at GDRFA website. In order to check your visa status online, follow the steps given below.

1. Go to GDRFA Dubai official website @www.gdrfad.gov.ae.
2. Scroll down to More Services and find out Visa Status option.
3. Click on Start Service button to open relevant page.
4. Select an option in Search by as Application or File or Over the Counter Service Applications or Special Requests or Establishment.
5. Enter required information and tick the Captcha verification box.
6. Click on Search button to proceed.
7. Your visa cancellation status will be shown on screen.

2. Check Visa Cancellation Status at ICP UAE Website

If you applied for visa cancellation in Abu Dhabi or other Emirates (except Dubai) then you can check your visa cancellation status at ICP UAE website portal. The procedure to check the status of visa cancellation is very simple, kindly go through the steps mentioned below.

1. Go to ICP UAE official website @www.icp.gov.ae.
2. Scroll down to Important Links Section.
3. Click on E-Channel Services option.
4. Now, click on Public Services to open the dashboard.
5. Here you can see the File Validity button near the search bar.
6. Choose Passport Information in Search by option.
7. Select the type as Residency or Visa.
8. Enter your passport number, passport expiry date and nationality details.
9. Tick the Captcha box and click on Search button.
10. Your visa cancellation status will appear on screen.

3. DubaiNow App OR UAEICP App

As I explained above, you can check visa cancellation status online at GDRFA Dubai website and ICP website. The same way, you can use the DubaiNow mobile app or UAEICP mobile app to check your visa cancellation status on your mobile phone.

Check Visa Cancellation Status through DubaiNow App

1. Download DubaiNow App from Play Store or App Store.
2. Open the DubaiNow App and go to Services.
3. Find and select Visa Status option.
4. Tap on Start Service button to continue.
5. Choose your Search by option from Application or File or any other.
6. Enter required details and submit them.
7. Your visa cancellation status should appear on your screen.

Check Visa Cancellation Status through UAEICP App

1. Download UAEICP App from Play Store or App Store or App Gallery.
2. Open the UAEICP app and tap on E-Channel Services.
3. Select Public Services to open relevant page.
4. Finally tap on File Validity option.
5. Choose Passport Information in Search by.
6. Select the visa type and enter your passport details.
7. Submit the details to view your visa cancellation status on your mobile screen.

4. Contact GDRFA/ICP Helpline Number

You can contact GDRFA or ICP Helpline Number to inquire about your visa cancellation status. If your visa belongs to Dubai, you need to contact GDRFA Dubai Call Center. In case your visa belongs to Abu Dhabi, Ajman or any other Emirate except Dubai, you need to contact ICP Call Center.

1. Call up GDRFA Helpline Number 800 5111 OR ICP Helpline Number 6005 22222.
2. Choose your preferred language and listen to the IVR options.
3. Choose the visa status or file validity option.
4. Talk to the GDRFA/ICP Call Center Executive and ask about your visa cancellation status.
5. Provide your Passport Info and other required details.
6. The call center executive will check your visa status and tell you if it is cancelled or not.

Grace Period After Visa Cancellation in UAE

After your UAE visa is cancelled, the government gives you a grace period of 90 days. When you check visa cancellation status, it shows the visa status, cancellation date and grace period details.

So, you have 90 days after your visa is cancelled. It means that you can stay for up to 90 days in the UAE after your visa is cancelled. You should leave the country before your grace period gets over otherwise you will have to pay overstay fine and face legal consequences.
